My Versatility speaks for itself. From Music, to Spoken Word Poetry, Acting, and Dancing. I put my life into my body of work. My goal is to push creativity further through my art. Allow me to Introduce myself My name is Donte Collins. Donte Collins is an American Slam/Performance poet.
Known for his spoken word poetry, Collins is a Minnesota spoken word finalist and the co-founder and co-director of No Projection, a group of four brothers aiming to use spoken word as an inspirational tool. Donte Collins, a junior at Community of peace Academy , was born in Chicago. He began performing poetry at his elementary school St. Peter Claver at the age of 13.
Winning the schools first talent show in 2009, he became a junior coach and judge for future events. Moving on to high school, Collins continued performing and brought Spoken word poetry with him. He then went on to facilitate a spoken word team, with the help of his older brother Lamar Collins, also a member of No Projection, Winning first place in the SayWord competition in 2012. In the mix of competing Donte performs all over the twin cites including the Walker Art Center, orchestra hall, pillsbury house theatre, penumbra theatre, ect. Collins is now the Highest ranked youth poet in the twin cities and will Compete in the 2013 International spoken word competition Brave New Voices.
